Scrambling days in North Wales and the Lake District (not inc. Scottish Highlands or Skye) on terrain up to and including classic grade 1 scrambles such as Crib Goch traverse, Tryfan north ridge, Blencathra's Sharp Edge & Helvelyn's Striding Edge. We will do all the navigation and look after you throughout the day in the mountains. Price is per day engaged.
Skye Cuillin private guiding
May to September
Bespoke guiding days on Skye's famous Cuillin ridge. We'll take you on some of the greatest alpine-esque terrain the UK has to offer and perhaps get you those more challenging Munro ticks such as the Inaccessible Pinnacle on Sgùrr Dearg. Price is per day engaged.

Single pitch skills
February to November
1-day. Learn to belay from above and below, manage yourself and a partner around the crag and pre-empt/solve simple problems encountered when climbing. N.B lead climbing skills are not covered. This course is delivered at a range of venues across the UK.
Scrambling development (2-days)
February to November
Ready to move on from grade 1 scrambles? Equip yourself with the skills required to safeguard more advanced technical mountaineering ground (grade 2 and 3 scrambles) using a rope. We will look at managing safety and efficiency in this dynamic environment, prepping you up for future adventures in places such as Skye or the Alps.

Fundamental navigation (2-days)
Year round
Navigation need not be a baffling subject. At the end of 2 days, you will to be able to plan and follow routes in the countryside using paths and tracks. Basic map interpretation and compass work is covered at an elementary level enabling you to have confidence in where you are going. This course can be run almost anywhere in the UK.
Improvised problem solving
Year round
Having some tips and tricks up your sleeve to calmly deal with a situation should be considered essential when venturing into multi-pitch terrain or sea cliffs. On this single day workshop, we'll look at escaping the belay system, simple hoists and methods of moving up and down a fixed rope should you ever need to use them.
Learn to lead trad (2-days)
February to November
In this shorter intensive course, you will cover the fundamentals of traditional lead climbing using natural protection. This course could also be used as a refresher of skills for those that have taken a break from leading. Please call ahead to discuss suitability.

Advanced navigation
Year round
1-day course. Building upon an existing foundation, we begin to look at using contour features to enable navigation away from paths, tracks and other man-made objects. We cover accurate compass work and how to select a suitable technique for a given leg of our journey. Poor visibility strategies are also covered. This course is run in North Wales, the Lake District and the Peak District.
Winter skills
January to March
Equip yourself with the knowledge and technical skills to confidently walk in the winter mountains. We will cover ice axe and crampon skills, snow-craft and avalanche avoidance and winter navigation tools. 2, 3 or 5-day courses recommended. Price is per day engaged.
Discover scrambling (2-days)
February to November
Spice up your day walks in the mountains with some more technical terrain. Over the course of these two days we look at developing personal confidence, group leadership and security to facilitate movement across grade 1 ground. Located in North Wales, we have access to some of the most scenic and exciting mountain days available.
Learn to lead trad (5-days)
February to November
With 5 days in which to cover the same content as our shorter L2L course, we have ample time to ensure teaching is delivered at a rate tailored to your pace and style of learning. This longer course is ideal for maximising experiential learning and the uptake of knowledge.

Bomber belays and rigging masterclass
Year round
1-day. Focussing on rope-work and rigging, this workshop puts belay creation skills into context at the top of a crag. Refine your belays and get creative with linking together the available protection to rig a range of different top and bottom rope set ups. We will look at ways to keep yourself safe while operating at the top of the crag as well as converting the system to an abseil.
Natural History events
Upland bird ID
April to June
There’s a lot more to the birds we encounter during a day in the hills than just “Little Brown Jobs”. This guided walk introduces methods to identify birds common to upland environments, namely by sight and sound, and how different habitats and seasons influence what species we might see and where. This is a half-day session.
Dawn chorus walk
April to June
The dawn chorus in British woodlands is a moving experience really worth getting up for. This guided walk gives an opportunity to become immersed in the soundscape and learn how to identify the common songsters as they wake up. This is a half-day session with a very early start!
