Upland bird ID
Overview:
Length: 1/2 day
Max ratio: 1:12
Minimum booking: 4
There’s a lot more to the birds we encounter during a day in the hills than just “Little Brown Jobs”. Join Alex on a guided walk and learn about the types of bird present in our hills, moorlands and mountains.
This workshop will cover:
-
Methods to identify birds common to upland environments, namely by sight and sound
-
How different habitats influence what species we might see and where
-
The impact of the seasons on bird distribution
-
Conservation issues surrounding our feathered friends.
Please come suitably dressed for a morning on the hill with personal food and drink. Bring binoculars if you have them, a notepad and pen.
Who is this for?
This workshop is orientated towards anyone operating in the upland environment under a professional leadership context; NGB award holders and trainees alike. However, it is also suitable for those wishing to simply increase their own understanding of birds for personal enjoyment.
We will be out for around 4 hours. An ‘aide memoire’ and other learning resources will be distributed electronically after the event. This workshop is eligible for MTA, AMI and BAIML CPD points.
Pricing:
£35 per person (MTA/AMI/BAIML member. Please state your association ID number upon booking)
£40 per person (non-member)
